‘Paintings 2015’ – A new collection of work by distinguished artist Robert Jones
18th September – 1st October 2015
Born in Cornwall in 1943, Robert Jones studied at Falmouth School of Art where he was taught by Francis Hewlett and Robert Organ. The impressions he gained of the area, the changing weather and light, wild seas and skies and wind blown trees are a recurring theme in his work. These scenes are depicted throughout the collection, the result, a celebration of an acclaimed career as a painter.
With the tiniest graduation of tone and warm and cool greys, he can create a sense of vast spaces, thrilling effusions of light, surging movement and flux. Jones always draws with the paint. Just see how resolved the forms of clouds are, or the writhing of thorn twigs- they define clear configurations on the picture surface, yet simultaneously exist in a tangible space terrific.
